Daredevils We Are

We’re young and reckless
Making more mistakes than most
Needing attention
Needing assurance
Are we doing what’s right?
My heart skips a beat
The thought of loss hurts
But it is what’s in-store
Its life
Yet I don’t want to lose
I want it all
In my arms
Remember the promises?
We’re young and reckless
Now is the time
To live
Make mistakes
Love
Hurt
And repeat
Because we are young and reckless

Tipsy…On…You

He nibbles just below my ear
And I adore that tickling sensation
It crawls on my skin
Spreading throughout my body
Oh how it feels
Like my own ecstasy
A personal euphoria
I get it when I want it
And I never crash
Staying high as the clouds
Just you and those expert lips
That’s what I need
For now
For every morning
I awake
Next
To
You

An Abysmal Ocean

She crawls and gasps for a breath
Creating her own web
Thick as the night’s ocean
So deep that daylight doesn’t seep through
When will she learn?
Cuffed by the weeds of the sea
Mixed into the tumultuous tides
Washed ashore one night
Devoured the next
The life of a captive
Given only by one
Accepted by many
Let the sands of time ebb away
For bit by bit
The spray erodes
And the core is shown

Only Human

I feel pain, sorrow, anger and frustration
The lashings I receive every night
The taste of sweat dripping down my wounded face
Salty like my tears
It’s all too familiar
Dark shadows cloud my sight
Hovering over me
Try as I may to shake them
They linger closer
I give up
Forfeiting my wrists to their shackles
An iron casted signature
Looking out from behind these bars
Blue skies peep through
The sun rises and falls
A wolf howls in the distance
Friends from distant places rally
But when I gain the strength to climb up
Clattering over a rickety wooden bench
I see only one.
